Women over 50 can ‘age gracefully’ by targeting one common area for wrinkles

As you get older changes to the way you look are inevitable. Your hair, body and skin will all change, but there are ways you can make sure that you age gracefully and stay looking your best well into the future.

Anti-ageing treatments can help protect your skin and fight wrinkles as you get older.

ZO Skin Health said: “Anti-ageing treatments are designed to nurture and protect your skin, helping it age gracefully”.

As you enter your 50s, you will want to focus on products that combat dullness and promote hydration. One are that it is wise to focus on is your neck as wrinkles and fine lines are common in this area.

ZO Skin Health recommends incorporating heavier, richer moisturising creams to restore the skin barrier and lock in moisture. Using these can help restore the appearance of fragile skin.

Brightening agents with ingredients like vitamin C and tranexamic acid can help combat age spots, discolouration, and dullness, contributing to a brighter complexion.

As you age, collagen production drops which can lead to less elasticity in the skin. It’s recommended to look for products with collagen-boosting treatments.  One of the worst things you can do for ageing skin is to pile on makeup to try and conceal fine lines and wrinkles.

Skincare and beauty expert Anna Seynaeve said it’s not just getting the wrong shade of foundation or eyebrow product, but rather how they are applied.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, she claimed that overdoing it with makeup is one of the most common mistakes made on older skin.

Anna said: “Heavily applied makeup is the worst thing one can do for ageing skin, as it accentuates imperfections by settling into creases and wrinkles on the skin. One example of this is when too much powder or concealer is used.”

This can make the skin look cakey and dry.

“A great way to avoid this is to use a lightweight liquid foundation. This is a much better option for a natural-looking coverage.”
