‘This is the Vinted message you should never reply to’

Selling on Vinted can make you some serious cash, and whether you choose to do it professionally or just sell your old bits and bobs that you’re not into anymore, big profits can be there.

But sometimes, it can feel like people want you to jump through hoops when you’re just trying to sell something at a reasonable price.

From people asking things like, ‘Do you think this would fit a size 16?’ to ‘Would you take £5?’ when the item is up for £20, it can sometimes get a little tedious. However, if they end up buying the item and paying a reasonable price for it, it’s worth it in the end.

But Vinted whizz @joelvalmedia shared that there’s a Vinted message that you should “ignore” every time – because when you send all the information over to them, it’s likely that you’re just going to get ignored, and it can be deflating.

Joel said that he’d been asked for the pit to put, cuff to cuff, and back length of a Carhartt jacket – and to be polite on this occasion, he decided to reply to the potential buyer. However, he was left with regret.

Joel said he “found out the hard way” that you should probably ignore this message, as he took all the measurements the Vinted user had asked for on the jacket.

“And after all that hard work, I was left on seen,” he fumed, with the potential buyer not even acknowledging the information he’d sent over to them.

“Like not even a response, nothing back – seen. Perfect”, Joel fumed, saying that he was going to “block that guy actually” so he couldn’t waste his time again in the future asking for measurements and then not even responding with a thank you.

People in the comments also wondered, “Why do people do this for real?”, but others came at the video with a different approach.

“Vinted sellers when they have to do their work,” someone fumed, saying that people who sell on Vinted for a living want to do as little as possible for the most profit.

Another raged: “Resellers angry that they actually have to research the product they’re selling”.

“Why do people just leave you on seen?” one man asked, and a TikToker said it’s “probably because they don’t want it” once they know more about the product.

“Then they can say they don’t want it instead of wasting the seller’s time,” someone else chimed in, defending the Vinted seller.

Another seller recommended putting the measurements on in the first place to stop people from messaging, writing: “All my items have one photo of a tape measure of the Pit 2 pit . And the length from shoulder to bottom/ and also jeans etc . Saves getting these messages and takes 10 seconds extra to do”.
