As we age, so does our skin, and with many celebrities and skincare experts opting for and promoting botox as a way to keep signs of ageing at bay, it can seem a tempting prospect. However, the cost and upkeep of Botox is unattainable for many people, so those looking for another solution often turn to skincare as a much more affordable alternative.
The Ordinary is a well-loved skincare brand, with stripped-back packaging and a focus on ingredient-led formulas that are effective but also reasonably priced so they can be bought by the everyday shopper – meaning many of the products cost under £10.
One of the products that’s being snapped up by shoppers is the The Ordinary 10% Argireline Solution, which costs £9.20 at Lookfantastic, and contains a patented formula of Acetyl Hexapeptide-3 – which minimises the look of expression lines and sagging skin.
Alternatively, the product can be bought as part of an anti-ageing duo for £19.25 at Beauty Bay, which also includes the Matrixyl 10% + HA solution containing high-strength peptides and hyaluronic acid to reduce the appearance of new and old wrinkles.
The water-based 10% Argireline Solution product works by prohibiting muscle contractions, specifically targeting facial areas prone to developing dynamic folds, including around the eyes and the forehead.
Shoppers are praising the product on Lookfantastic, saying: ”[The] first time I bought it for its reviews of this being Botox in a bottle. I don’t do Botox and focus more on skincare so I bought this and [to be honest] this is really good and I saw this working [by] diminishing my nasolabial folds. I don’t have [many] deep wrinkles but can see the difference with continuous use. Wonder product.” [SIC]
Another commented: ”This product is amazing. Reduces fine lines and is literally like Botox in a bottle”.
However one review reads: ”I bought this after reading some good reviews and seeing a lot of hype on social media. I’ve been using for about 6 weeks and not sure I’ve noticed much difference (I think I read you should see a difference after 4 weeks). Not sure I’ll be repurchasing.”
