Prince Harry responds to Meghan Markle divorce rumors

Prince Harry is speaking out regarding recent rumors that he and Meghan Markle are headed for divorce.

The 40-year-old Duke of Sussex broke his silence on the speculation Wednesday during The New York Times’ DealBook Summit, hosted at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Appel Room on Columbus Circle.

“Apparently we’ve bought or moved house maybe 10, 12 times,” the reluctant royal deadpanned. “We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well [laughs]. So it’s just like, what? It’s hard to keep up with. But that’s why you just sort of ignore it.”

Harry got some chuckles from the crowd when he said he “genuinely” feels sorry for the internet trolls, whose “hopes are just built and built … and then it doesn’t happen.”

The latest chatter about trouble in paradise for the polarizing couple comes following multiple occasions in which Harry and the “Suits” alum have made public appearances without one another.

When asked by moderator Andrew Ross Sorkin how he feels about the inordinate amount of “interest” in his life, Harry said it’s “definitely not a good thing.”

Harry and Meghan’s relationship, which began on a 2016 blind date, has long been a contentious headline fixture. They wed in 2018 and the following year welcomed son Archie the following year.

In early 2020, they announced they’d be stepping back from their senior royal duties and decamping to Markle’s native California. There, they welcomed daughter Lilibet in June 2021.

In recent years, Harry and Meghan have put the spotlight on their marriage with an eponymous Netflix docuseries and Harry’s bombshell memoir, “Spare,” released in early 2023.
