Pedestrian, 60, fatally struck by Jeep driver while crossing Bronx street

A Jeep driver struck and killed a 60-year-old pedestrian trying to cross a Bronx street, cops said Sunday.

Uddin Shahi was crossing Bruckner Blvd. near Castle Hill Ave. in Castle Hill, about a half-mile away from his home, just after 8 p.m. Saturday, when a Jeep Compass driver struck him, cops said.

The Jeep’s driver, a 34-year-old woman, stayed on the scene.

Medics took Shahi to Jacobi Hospital, where he died.

The driver was not charged criminally, though the crash remains under investigation, police said.
