Mel Gibson Floats Fire Theory Even He Admits Is ‘Insane’

Mel Gibson is not one to let a crisis go by without a conspiracy theory—even if he has to reach for an explanation that is “insane” by his own standards.

Speaking with Fox News The Ingraham Angle on Friday night, the controversial actor told the show’s host there were any number of unanswered questions about the “convenient” circumstances surrounding the inferno in the Los Angeles area, wondering aloud whether the fires had been “commissioned” as part of a nefarious effort to move tenants off of otherwise valuable land and property.

There aren’t, and they weren’t. But Gibson’s comments have nevertheless put him up alongside a growing host of right-wing pundits and influencers who’ve been spreading false claims about the wildfires online since they first broke out on Tuesday–including Elon Musk, who’s somehow managed to turn the tragic loss of life into a “DEI” issue.
