‘Magic’ exercise keeps hands warm in the winter – and takes just 30 secs

Say goodbye to cold hands with this simple trick.

As we approach the end of January, winter weather is still very much present, meaning it’s not yet time to pack away your warm clothing or any heating devices you might depend on.

It’s crucial to keep warm during low temperatures, but it can be challenging – particularly in extremities like your hands. Gloves can help maintain warmth in your hands, but they’re not always feasible, especially if you’re working with your hands in a chilly setting, such as typing on a keyboard.

If you notice that your hands become exceptionally cold during this season, there’s a straightforward exercise you can do to heat them up.

A woman named Chelsea revealed the hack in a viral TikTok video, stating that a professional skier taught her the trick. She acknowledged that it does “feel so weird” and might appear strange if you stand up to perform it in the middle of the office, but it works “like magic” to heat your hands within seconds.

All you need to do is stand with your arms at your sides and flex your hands so your palms face the floor. Then, simply shrug your shoulders up and down rapidly.

Chelsea explained: “You will feel blood shoot into your fingers. It will warm them up because it keeps the circulation going.”

In her video, the woman revealed her struggle with Raynaud’s, which is a condition that causes blood flow issues to fingers and toes, notably affecting her from October to April due to the cold weather.

Warning: The below video contains explicit language.

She has found a life-changing hack that keeps her hands warm but laments not knowing a similar trick for her toes, saying: “I don’t know the toe version. If I knew the toe version, I’d be f***ing unstoppable. But this? You’re welcome.”

The woman’s video drew in a crowd of viewers who appreciated her advice, with numerous other Raynaud’s sufferers eager to try the hack themselves.

People from cold countries like Sweden and Finland even asserted that they were introduced to this technique during their schooldays.

One person said: “I was a ski racer. I instantly knew the trick you were going to say.”

Another added: “I learned the same from my elementary schoolteacher here in Finland as a kid! It definitely works.”

A new fan of the hack expressed their amazement: “I have Raynaud’s too, and when you said ‘you will literally feel the blood shoot to your fingertips’, I didn’t believe you, but GIRL, that is so weird. I was NOT expecting that, but it works!”.
