Jay-Z MIA as Beyoncé Delivers Defiant Hometown Performance

Beyoncé sent football and music fans alike into a frenzy Wednesday night with a roughly 9-minute performance during Netflix’s live broadcast of the Houston Texas v. Baltimore Ravens game. Yet noticeably absent was her husband Jay-Z.

Clad in all white, her blond mane blowing in the wind, Beyoncé solidified her standing as the “greatest pop star of the 21st century” with a performance medley of songs from her Cowboy Carter.

And given that the game is in her hometown of Houston—the performance was a victory lap of sorts for the singer as she celebrated her southern roots in front of thousands watching at home and from Houston’s NRG Stadium.
