I’ve taken vitamin D for 10 months and the differences have been life-changing

According to Healthline, your body produces vitamin D naturally when it’s directly exposed to sunlight.

However, vitamin D deficiencies become common in the UK winter months because of the reduced exposure to sunlight.

Whilst you can receive the vitamin from some foods, many experts and the UK Government recommend taking a daily supplement from October to March.

I didn’t do this until 10 months ago when a blood test showed I was vitamin D deficient.

Signs of this vitamin deficiency include tiredness, aches, pains as well as muscle weakness.

From that day forward, I’ve been taking supplements from Vitabiotics, and I’ve never felt better.

Healthline states that vitamin D has many benefits for the body including supporting a healthy immune system and improving resistance to certain diseases.

It can also help to regulate mood, promote weight loss as well as reduce the likelihood of severe illnesses.

My most common symptom was tiredness, and not even a SAD lamp could combat it, especially during the dark winter months.

I simply take one vitamin D tablet per day, but this does depend on the brand you go for.

There are also varying strengths of it but I opted for the optimum level which was available in my local supermarket.

There hasn’t been one day where I’ve forgotten to take the tablet, and both my mood and tiredness levels have improved dramatically. I can now go a whole day without feeling the need for a nap, and my skin has cleared up too.

My whole family now takes the supplement and we continue to do so all year round.

I take my small tablet with a meal, as it’s fat-soluble and taking it with food can help the body to absorb it better.

Healthline stated: “If you take excessive amounts of vitamin D supplements, you may get too much of it.

“However, this is unlikely to happen through diet or sun exposure because your body regulates the amount of vitamin D produced through sun exposure.”

Make sure to consult a professional before starting to take supplements to work out which one is best for you.

There are many vitamin D supplements on the market, including Holland & Barrett’s own range as well as BetterYou’s sprays.
