A vetinary nurse has shared the dog breed that scares her the most at work, and people are always surprised when she tells them, as it’s perhaps not an obvious choice.
When you ask a vet which dog breed they are most apprehensive to treat, you might assume they’ll answer something like a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, German Shepherd or Rottweiler, but for vetenary nurse Eve, it’s something completely different.
Eve, who owns three dogs herself, says she “loved all dog breeds”, but the one that scares her the most is a Border Collie. “You can’t tell me otherwise,” she began in a recent TikTok uploaded to her @eve_the_veterinary_nurse account. “They unnerve me.”
According to the vet, a Border Collie, which is a British breed of herding dog of medium size, would “go head-to-head with a cow”. They are also “so clever” that they would “outwit you straight away”. Eve went on to explain that they have a very small tolerance level, which means they would “nip you” quite quickly.
She went on to explain that “if you have a nice Border Collie, there’s nothing nicer”, adding: “It’s the nicest dog you’ve ever met in your life.” However, if they aren’t, she explains they can be “unhinged”.
Eve then went on to share a recent experience she had, when she took a Border Collie out to pee, and the pooch started “attacking her feet” and “herding her” back inside, which made her “nervous”. “Try to make a Border Collie do something they don’t want to do. They are 10 steps ahead of you.”
Eve also added that she doesn’t “dislike them” and doesn’t treat anyone’s dogs any differently, but admits the Border Collie does make her feel “a little bit more uneasy than the rest”.
In the comment section many dog owners agreed with the vet nurse. One person wrote: “Border Collies… Unpredictable. Mine was a nightmare once he turned six.” Another added: “Couldn’t agree more. I have a Border Collie. He’s the most beautiful soul, (in our house, to our family) but outside or with other people or at the vet? Nope. I don’t trust him, he will attempt to eat the vet if he wasn’t muzzled and doesn’t like other people much either. I fear people don’t understand the breed, they are an extremely nervous dog and protective.”
However, another shared: “I have a Border Collie and our vets loves him and he loves them. Soo god d**n soft.” Another added: “My border Collie is soft and gentle with us but so scared of other people that goes mad at our front door, but fine out as long as not approached.”
