I fed my cat a human-grade diet for a month and this is what happened

Marro is a brand-new cat food subscription brand, formulated with the help of vets.

It’s packed with vitamins and minerals and the food is tailored to what the individual cat needs.

Marro has a huge commitment to taste and uses human-quality ingredients which are gently steam-cooked from scratch.

There aren’t many cat food brands like this on the market, and if there are, they can be insanely expensive.

General wet cat food brands which can be found in supermarkets contain very little meat and lots of derivatives, which aren’t ideal for feline health.

Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning they need meat to survive, which is quite hard to find in supermarkets.

With a recent health scare in one of my cats, I always look for the best possible food, and so decided to try Marro on my cat Churro.

Churro has just turned two years old and besides a sensitive tummy, has no health issues but she does love her food.

Marro’s recipes are suitable for cats with special dietary requirements such as sensitive stomachs, allergies, itchy skin, pancreatic issues and diabetes.

The menu includes juicy beef, flaky fish, succulent chicken, pork and turkey, all drizzled with gravy to boost hydration.

Cats have a naturally low thirst drive so it’s important to feed them wet food where possible to boost hydration.

Looking at Marro’s ingredients, beef, for example, has 70 percent human-quality beef, compared to around four percent in most commercial brands.

Marro’s meals are conveniently delivered inside a box and then are stored in the freezer, defrosting overnight in the fridge.

The pouches stay fresh in the fridge for up to seven days and up to two days once opened.

Warming up the cat food can entice felines to enjoy a delicious meal, so it’s recommended to pop them in the microwave for 10 seconds, then stir, then another five seconds before stirring.

Churro absolutely demolished the pouches which I could easily split into two meals for her as she has a small appetite.

Once out of the microwave, the food smelt delicious, and I could definitely smell the human-quality ingredients.

The food also looked tasty, unlike most commercial food brands where it just falls out of the packet in a slab.

The only thing I found hard to remember was getting the food out of the freezer so I decided to keep a few packets in the fridge at a time.

Typically I do prefer food which comes in a tin or packet so it can be stored at room temperature, but this was easy to get used to.

It’s hard to say if it has changed Churro for the better, as she would need to eat it for several weeks, but she’s definitely more playful and sleeps a lot better through the night.

I’d highly recommend trying your cat out on this food brand as the ingredients are incredible.

Speaking on the launch, Charlie Kelly, managing director of Marro, said: “Launching Marro is something we’ve dreamt of for a long time – because as a company we felt passionately that cats and their owners deserved better. So we created better.

“We already knew how powerful the health benefits of fresh can be and what we soon discovered was how much cats afore the taste too.

“This is a win-win, as any cat lover will tell you that our feline friends can be notoriously fussy.

“To make sure every recipe is up to scratch we went through rigorous rounds of taste-testing with both humans and cats.

“The end result is irresistible, meaty, fresh meals that are worthy of our favourite felines.”

If you want to try Marro for yourself, there is currently 40 percent off your first two boxes, or you can try a trial box.
