If you’re looking for ways to incorporate healthier foods into your diet, then this recipe is perfect for you.
Just because you’re trying to eat more consciously doesn’t mean you have to give up on taste. One personal trainer has shared his ideal “low carb” breakfast, which is packed full of protein.
Taking to TikTok, @jessept shared a clip showing people how to make one of his favourite meals, and it’s bound to keep you satiated thanks to the ingredients.
Jesse said: “Did you know that if you add egg whites, canned tomatoes, spinach, onion, and capsicum to a bowl, mix, then top with two eggs, chorizo crumb, and feta cheese and cook that in the oven, you get this high-protein breakfast bowl”.
He said to think of this as a “template” rather than being a set recipe, and you can adjust it however you like.
For those looking for the exact amount of ingredients, he provided them in his caption.
You will need:
200ml of egg whites
200g canned tomatoes
A handful of chopped spinach
Half a brown onion (diced)
1 quarter of a red capsicum (bell pepper)
2 eggs
25g crumbed chorizo
25g reduced-fat feta cheese
He also recommended that you season it with a small amount of salt and pepper to taste.
Jesse explained you “Can also add garlic, chickpeas and any other herbs/spices” that you want to, to suit your taste.
He also shared that it needs to be cooked for “50 ish minutes” at 180 degrees Celcius.
The tasty recipe contains 416 calories, 11g of carbohydrates, 20.3g of fat, and 47.5g of protein.
According to Better Health Channel, “Proteins are made up of chemical ‘building blocks’ called amino acids. Your body uses amino acids to build and repair muscles and bones and to make hormones and enzymes. They can also be used as an energy source,” so this is why they are so important for our bodies.
