Four persons of interest identified in Texas post-prom shooting – New York Daily News

An investigation launched by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office in Texas identified four persons of interest involved in a shooting at an after-prom party that left 11 wounded.

About 250 teens from Jasper and Kirbyville were celebrating after both schools had proms Saturday night, Sheriff Mitchel Newman said Tuesday.

Officials initially thought nine people had been injured in a shooting that took place early Sunday morning, but they later updated the number to 11, saying that two victims had gone to the hospital the day after the attack.

“What was supposed to be the most wonderful night of these kids’ life greatly affected them, and it will be something they never forget,” sheriff spokesperson Karli Cherry told 12News.

Eight of the victims were driven directly to Jasper Memorial Hospital following the incident in personal vehicles. All of the wounds sustained were non-life-threatening.

As a precaution, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety are teaming up to add extra security at schools across Jasper County.

The school district is also planning on providing added counselors to all students.

A second shooting that happened Sunday in Jasper County is believed to be connected to the after-prom incident.

No one was injured in the second shooting, but two vehicles were both hit by gunfire.
