Brits are gearing up to embrace the great outdoors, with a stunning three-quarters planning to embark on a range of outdoor activities.
Fuelled by aspirations to keep fit and bond with nature, the list features hobbies such as foraging, stargazing, and beachcombing. In addition to wildlife-inspired activities like fishing, horse riding and wild swimming.
In the research commissioned by Jeep UK it found Brits are keen to try a multitude of outside activities that offer the opportunity for adventure but can also improve their mental wellbeing.
Kristian Cholmondley, Managing Director at Jeep UK, pinpointed that the research shows “our fundamental need to escape the digital world and embrace the physical world around us.”
This was emphasised by the growing interest in nature-orientated endeavours such as rockhounding (the search for rocks, minerals, and fossils) as well as recording nature finds in journals and wildlife photography.
Nonetheless, venturing out into nature is not without its challenges. Brits listed travel expenses, time scarcity, and a lack of confidence as main obstacles.
In terms of travel, access to reliable transportation also plays a vital role in empowering people to explore more rural, off-the-beaten-path areas where these activities are often based.
Interestingly, according to the research, Brits prioritise reliability, comfort, and safety when choosing a vehicle for their outdoor escapades.
“Whether it’s a weekend getaway or a spontaneous outdoor adventure, the need for accessible, dependable transportation is at an all-time high,” Kristian commented.
