Beyoncé’s mysterious big announcement has been postponed amid the deadly wildfires laying claim to much of Los Angeles.
The record-breaking Grammy winner, 43, wrote on Instagram Monday that her announcement, initially slated for Tuesday, would be shelved “due to the devastation caused by the ongoing wildfires around areas of Los Angeles.”
In her post, the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer shared that her BeyGOOD charity donated $2.5 million through its L.A. Fire Relief Fund, which will “directly support families who lost their homes and community organizations at the forefront of relief.”
“I continue to pray for healing and rebuilding for the families suffering from trauma and loss,” continued Beyoncé. “We are so blessed to have brave first responders who continue to work tirelessly to protect the Los Angeles Community.”
She urged followers to donate “whatever you can” toward the relief fund.
On Christmas, the same day Beyoncé performed the halftime show for the Houston Texans-Baltimore Ravens game, she dropped a video of herself atop a horse as she donned a cowboy hat and waved an American flag. The video ended with text that read, “1.14.25.”
Weeks earlier, Beyoncé and her husband, Jay-Z, were tasked with damage control when an anonymous woman accused the hip-hop titan, born Shawn Carter, and Combs, both 55, of having raped her at an after-party for the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.
The accuser, identified only as Jane Doe, said she was 13 at the time of the alleged assault. Both Carter and Combs deny the assault took place. She has also acknowledged inconsistencies in her recollection.
A New York City judge earlier this month granted Carter’s request to file a motion for dismissal of the lawsuit. He has until Feb. 6 to do so, at which point Doe would have until the end of February to file opposition papers. After that, Carter would be given until mid-March to reply.
At the time of publication, the wildfire death toll has been confirmed to be at least 25, and the flames have consumed more than 12,000 structures and over 40,000 acres.
