Amazon’s £18 solution keeps the home ‘warm for ages’, shoppers say

As most of the UK remains in baltic temperatures, people are desperately trying to retain the heat in their homes. With rising energy bills, you’ll want to make the most of every penny you put into the heating this winter.

And, Amazon may have a genius solution to help. The Myhomeware Radiator Air Flow Adapter Heat Diverter Booster starts selling from £17.99 for a small 1000mm device and can go up to £38.99 depending on the unit size you’re trying to cover.

Quite simply, it’s an attachment designed to maximise the use of your radiators when the heating is on. Usually, the warm air is pumped out and rises up, but this can often result in masses of wasted heat.

According to the product description, fixing these clever fins onto the top of your appliance will “divert heat around your room directly from a radiator”. It should, in theory, create a channel that improves the warm airflow instead of sending most of your precious heat up towards the windows.

Shoppers have already been raving about the product online. One said: “The radiator diverter is great. I noticed how much warmer the room was the first time I used it.”

Another added: “I was having draft issues with the heat rising directly behind my thermal curtains rather than into the room. The diverter neatly tucks my curtains behind giving heat less places to escape.

“Even if the concept is hopes and dreams, just being able to lip my curtains behind it makes a difference and heat is being redirected by this factor alone. Does as intended in keeping heat away from the cold window above.”

Someone else wrote: “I don’t know why radiators don’t come with these attached, such a simple design! I wasn’t sure how well these would work, but I have been really pleased with them.

“One of my radiators is under a window with obvious loss of heat which meant the middle of the room barely got warm unless I hiked the heating right up. Now I can feel the heat in the room and don’t feel much heat over the radiator.”

But not everyone was happy with the purchase. One buyer claimed that it “didn’t make much difference” in their home, while another added that the product “fits badly” and has one major flaw. They said: “This product really isn’t well thought out. They didn’t account for depth at all, as such it only covers half the radiator.”

Shoppers have found many ways to make the most of their radiators, as the standard unit may not be enough during the major freeze across the UK. For example, the Speed Comfort Radiator Fan Mono at Lakeland was £60 and is now down to £47.99.

It’s a “powerful magnetic radiator fan to save energy” that claims to “improve radiator efficiency and heat circulation. Also, for a cheaper alternative, Brits have found reflective foil makes a huge difference when added behind the radiator. At B&Q, the Diall Radiator reflector costs £15 for 5m².
