There are certain things, particularly greasy food, you don’t want to spill down your top, because it can feel like a nightmare to remove it.
While some grease stains might wash out with a bit of stain remover, if it’s a particularly stubborn mark you might find it just won’t lift. Luckily, an online content creator has shared her go-to hack for removing grease stains – and all it takes is using a spray bottle that many don’t realise can be used for that particular job.
Online content creator @hyperfocus_rewards took to TikTok to share a “top tip” for how to remove grease stains from your clothes. She continued: “You can absolutely use Elbow Grease directly on clothes before you put them in the wash.”
She then demonstrated spraying Elbow Grease directly on the marks, before adding it to the washing machine and doing a normal cycle. Elbow Grease is a cleaning product that many people use to remove grease and grime from surfaces.
However, it can also be used to fabric, so makes for a brilliant way to remove grease stains on clothes. According to the description, Elbow Grease All Purpuse Degreaser is “perfect for cleaning greasy surfaces in the kitchen, bathroom, outdoors, and vehicles” and “can also be used to remove oil from machinery and engines”.
But it is also “gentle enough to remove grease stains from delicate and coloured fabrics without damaging them”. They do recommend to “test its colour resistance on a small hidden area before use”.
For fabrics, it’s recommended to spray the product directly onto the stain, leave for five minutes and then wash the fabric with your normal detergent. Elbow Grease All Purpuse Degreaser can be purchased from most retailers, including ASDA for just £1.20, making it a really affordable solution.
In the comment section many were excited to try the tip out themselves, and some found it works for them. “It’s the only thing I have used that removes stains from chip shop curry sauce,” said one person. “I use it. It’s brilliant,” shared another.
A third commented: “Wow that’s amazing.” And someone else commented: “Elbow Grease is sent from above.. I’ve saved so many clothes with it.”
Elbow Grease is a “solvent-free cleaner” that can be used on a range of materials, such as fabrics, metals and plastics.
