If you’re hoping to spring clean your home soon and get rid of clutter, while giving your home a much-needed deep clean, make sure you don’t overlook your skirting boards.
They may not be at your immediate eyeline, but if you look a little closer, they may be full of dirt, dust and debris and could be desperate for a spruce up. But without getting on your hands and knees and going round the whole room, how are you supposed to clean them?
Well, one cleaning enthusiast TikToker has said that she wants to “blow your mind” with her amazing hack – and it’s peak laziness. Dannie, known as @danniedw on TikTok, said you should “try this hack” and “thank me later,” and she listed the reasons why her tip is just the best you’ll ever use.
All you need is a dryer sheet and your hoover. You should put the dryer sheet around the Hoover nozzle so you don’t have to bend down – and it will get up some serious grime.
She said that it’s “gentle on skirting, so no harsh scrubbing is needed” and there’s “no need for bending down”.
Another benefit is “The static absorbing quality of the sheets plus Hoover suction will easily lift dust,” as she demonstrated at the end of the video, where she admitted she wasn’t expecting it to be so dirty.
Dannie also said there’s “No need to keep emptying your Hoover canister” when you clean in this way. “The softener in the sheets not only smells nice but leaves an ever so light coat on the skirting which helps prevent future build-up,” she shared.
She encouraged people to “clean smarter and not harder” by trying this trick. “I think you just saved my knees,” somebody joked in the comments.
Another said they were going to “try it” but with a “microfibre cloth” instead, as you can reuse it – but of course, it won’t smell the same.
A TikToker said: “That looks like it works miracles in a single use”. Some asked her why she didn’t just use the Hoover to suck up the dust, but others urged them to “read the caption” as Dannie had explained her rationale there.
