I made £100K on Vinted and this is how to sell more – don’t make this mistake

If you’re thinking of carrying out a big wardrobe clearout and throwing away your old clothes, think again.

A top seller has the best tips for getting some money back from your belongings when you sell them on Vinted, a trading platform where people can sell and buy used items at affordable prices.

The website can be a great tool for shopping more sustainably while also making some extra pocket money for yourself.

One savvy TikTok creator, @pastgems, says she has reportedly earned a whopping £100,000 from selling old clothes.

The Vinted seller shared with her 22,000 followers how they can be just as successful.

Take clear photos

First things first, the reseller advised in one video that you need to take “clear and aesthetic photos” – a crucial step that attracts buyers.

For those who don’t want to invest in professional studio lighting, she recommended buying a cheap clip-on light that secures itself onto your phone to help enhance the lighting quality of your pictures.

“I promise you it makes such a difference,” she said.

Fast shipping

It’s important to ship your items quickly, according to the full-time reseller.

Explaining that she understands the difficulty of shipping every day around work and other commitments, she noted: “Sshipping quickly will get you repeat buyers because they know they can rely on you.”

Don’t hassle buyers

One tip that the creator advises you not to do in order to help boost your sales is to not message people on the app who have ‘liked’ your item.

She explained: “If they wanted to buy it, they would. In my opinion, that makes your item not desirable at all; it kind of seems like you’re desperate to get rid of the item, which is not what you want.”

Don’t reserve items

The Vinted seller explained that when you’re reserving items “90% of the time”, they will not go ahead with the purchase because of the amount of time you’ve given them to think about it.

She went on to say that “if they really wanted to buy, they would find a way,” adding that personally she will never reserve due to previous customers wasting her time and therefore missing out on other potential buyers.

Don’t accept offers

A slightly controversial one from the TikToker – in order to make money on Vinted, she recommends not accepting anyone’s offers.

The reseller admitted that “it sounds crazy” but explained that the best thing to do is counter their offer.

“Whenever I counter their offer by £2 or £3, they always, always buy. I can’t tell you why this exactly works; it just does. And I’ve had so many of my followers message me saying, ‘This tip actually works’.”

Viewers have left comments on the videos of the seller sharing her top tips, asking for more advice.

One asked: “How many items would you suggest to list on Vinted?” While another questioned: “Do you have a specific time of the day that you post on Vinted?”

The creator’s most recent video was titled: “Just sold 25+ items on Vinted in a single day,” so these tips clearly seem to be working for her.
