Chinese New Year is a poignant date in the lunar calendar and is heavily linked to the Chinese zodiac.
With the Year of the Wood Dragon nearing its end on January 29, 2025, a new animal sign, the Wood Snake, will reign until February 16, 2026.
Until that happens, the influence of the Year of the Dragon will continue, meaning five zodiac animals will fare better than others regarding luck this week.
Sharing her insights with YourTango, tarot reader and astrologer Valeria Black revealed the signs that are “hands down the luckiest all week long.”
She explained that between January 13 and 19, 2025, the I Ching hexagram of luck, Thunder over Fire, will bring “abundance” to Chinese zodiac animals, including the pig and ox.
It means those born in years of the five lucky animals should “be receptive” to discovering good fortune in subtle ways. Valeria revealed her more specific directions for the pig, ox, rat, goat, and horse this week.
Pig
People born in the Year of the Pig ((1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007) will find their luck directly from blood relatives, said Valeria. She said: “Look at your family history and all the prominent members who made something significant occur on your mother and father’s side.”
Success is also on the cards this week, and because the Lunar New Year of the Snake is nearing, this luck will pave the way for a promising year ahead. Lucky charms to look for include red, green, and blue.
Goat
As for those associated with the goat sign, (people born in Goat years including 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003), luck this week is linked to cooking.
Focus on treasured family recipes in the kitchen. Valeria suggested that the more feeling and emotion you imbue into the meal preparations, “the stronger your luck will be wherever you want to direct it.” Lucky charms in gold, red, and green are present this week.
Ox
Valeria said people born in the years of the Ox, including 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, and 2009, will have luck this week being associated with ink.
The tarot reader and astrologer noted that this is especially likely for those who write their intentions with ink on starched paper and hang it somewhere prominent at home. People linked to the Ox zodiac sign will find the colours green, pink, and blue lucky this week.
Horse
In the Chinese zodiac, recent horse years include 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, and 2014. People born in such years may find that their luck brings the essence of a fairytale to their life this week.
Valeria suggested that this week, people lined to the horse may turn something worthless or junk into something of incredible value. It could be as simple as finding a hidden gem in your attic.
Valeria said yellow and gold are considered lucky for the Horse this week, particularly wearing understated gold jewellery.
Rabbit
Rabbit years include 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, and 2023, and Valeria said to those born in such years that their luck this week would prove something to those who didn’t believe in them.
She said: “Discover that a talent not recognized within you is highly prized in other circles, and your luck will lead you directly to that. Keep an open mind, though. This is a mysterious kind of luck and won’t be obvious right away.”
As for lucky charms, red and gold are the ones to look out for this week.
