Joyous ways to spend your time between Christmas and NY

As the big fuss preparing for Christmas Day is over, and Boxing Day leftovers have been eaten, many people still have some time to relax before the New Year.

Between December 27 to 30 (Twixmas), there’s more to do than just cosy up on the couch and watching TV (although that is a good idea).

Twixmas – originating from the olde English word betwixt, which means between – is the perfect time to get into a really good book.

Whether it’s a romance novel, a true crime story, or non-fiction prose that tickles your fancy, curling up with an interesting book can feel so rewarding.

For others, it’s the perfect chance to go out on long country walks solo with a warming thermos of coffee – whether you go solo or with the family is up to you. Many National Trust properties are open at this time of year and are an affordable attraction to visit.

Those with a creative eye may want to use this opportunity to redecorate a room in the home. Design inspiration can be found in magazines and online with the likes of Pinterest, TikTok and Instagram.

And with (or without) the desire to paint or wallpaper a room, there’s always the time to do a good clear out to prepare for the New Year.

Others may prefer adding more stuff into their home as they press their finger over the many items they like the look of online. Huge discounts can be had following the Christmas period, so if you’re looking for a bargain, now is the time.

Some beauty queens may cherish a self-pampering day, running a warm bubbly bath, lighting a candle, and putting on a face mask while listening to music.

Additional beauty ideas can include getting a new haircut, getting your nails and toenails done, or booking yourself in for a fabulous facial.

Alternatively, or in addition to any of the ideas above, some may take this time to create a vision board what they would like to focus on in 2025. Just make sure you place the vision board somewhere you can see it every day to inspire you throughout 2025.

Now could even be the right time to try a new hobby, such as watercolour painting or knitting. Twixmas could also be the perfect time to ignite friendships as more people will have spare time to meet up during this time.

Whichever ideas you decide to try out, have a lovely time as New Year is soon approaching and 2025 will be here before you know it.
