Man badly burned in brush fire by Willis Ave. Bridge in Bronx

One man was injured following an outdoor fire in the Bronx Wednesday afternoon, the FDNY said.

Around 60 firefighters and EMS personnel responded to a brush fire around 1:09 p.m. at the Willis Ave. Bridge exit and Bruckner Blvd. near a homeless encampment.

The unidentified victim was taken to Harlem Hospital. His injuries were reportedly serious but not life-threatening.

Footage from Citizen shows a large cloud of gray smoke emanating from the area. The fire was brought under control by 1:43 p.m. There were no reported damages to any nearby buildings.
