Grooming guru shares their Black Friday shaving essentials

While we are all going crazy over the Black Friday sales, let’s not forget “Movember,” a chance for the gents to grow their moustaches to raise men’s health awareness. To mark the end of the month, Movember’s partner Pringles—known for its famously moustachioed Mr P logo—teamed up with an award-winning journalist to reveal this year’s top moustaches.

Lee Kynaston, aka The Grooming Guru on social media, shared his picks for top moustaches looks and Black Friday bargains to help achieve the style including the Philips One Blade (now £21.99, was £32.99 at Boots), which is particularly good for precision edging of facial hair, and the Remington Barba Beard Trimmer as alternative (£23 instead of £26.97 on Amazon).

Pedro Pescal’s moustache has impressed fans, and Lee commented: “Pedro’s thick mo has become a signature part of his look. No matter what the role – Narcos, The Last of Us, or Gladiator II – Pascal gets to keep his trademark ‘tache. Is it about time Pedro Pascal’s facial hair had its own acting credits?”

Jacob Elordi’s moustache and mullet combo also piqued the guru’s interest, he explained: “Often described as ‘business in the front, party in the back’, the moustache and mullet combo has long been reserved for the likes of Joe Exotic, Billy Ray Cyrus and Bono. But like all good trends, it was only a matter of time before it came full circle – and Jacob Elordi is the one to make the first move. I love the nostalgia of this newly-revived 80s relic.”

Lee also shared a trick for those who are looking for a tip to shave around a moustache with a wet razor, he suggested to use a non-foaming, transparent shave gel like King C Gillette’s Transparent Shave Gel, which is now on 25% off on Amazon for £3.75.

With 2,000 shoppers giving 4.5 out of 5 ratings, one agreed with Lee and shared: “I needed a transparent gel for trimming up my beard neckline. This does the job perfectly. Nice scent and easy clean up. Easy peasy.”

Another rated it as “best shave gel ever” and echoed: “This shaving gel is absolutely amazing. Because it is clear, it’s so easy to see where you’ve shaved. So if you have a beard, goatee or moustache, you can see (very easily) where you are when shaving. It smells nice, the blade glides smoothly and the face feels soft after the shave. I definitely won’t be using any other shaving gel/foam again.”

The third celebrity Lee picked is Ncuti Gatwa, the Barbie Ken doll, Sex Education star and latest incarnation of Doctor Who has taken the world by storm, and has taken his moustache along for the journey. Lee shared: “On a day-to-day basis, Ncuti’s well-manicured mo is sleek and refined, but – controversially – I am a huge fan of the horseshoe-goatee hybrid he brought to life as Ken, too. Can we see more of these in 2025?”

For the final tip, Lee recommended using a wax balm like The Brighton Beard Co’s Extra Firm Moustache Wax, which shoppers can get from Amazon for £14. He added: “To keep your ‘tache (and the skin beneath it) in tip top condition, use a beard balm (I like The Brighton Beard Co’s ones) and if you want to style or to shape it, apply a little moustache wax like The Brighton Beard Co’s Extra Firm Moustache Wax.”
