Keep your iPhone extra safe using little-known Apple feature

If you’ve ever misplaced your phone, you’ll understand the heart-stopping panic that ensues – particularly if you haven’t backed up precious photos. However, occasionally a kind-hearted stranger will find your device and go to great lengths to return it to you.

They might post images of it on social media in an often vain attempt to reunite it with you, or try to call someone using Siri.

Bearing this in mind, one man has revealed a method to make it simpler for these good Samaritans to perform their acts of kindness – by adding something to your home screen.

TikTok user @letsdodiz demonstrated how you can “have your name on the bottom of your iPhone [home screen]” – but it doesn’t necessarily have to be your name; it could be an alternative contact number of a trusted person or an email address someone could reach out to if you lose your phone while out.

All you need to do is navigate to your settings, “click on focus, and you’re gonna click on the plus sign, and hit custom”, explained the tech guru.

Then, you can name the focus – so you could put your full name so someone would be able to locate you on social media, or another person’s number. Anything you think would make it easier for someone to find you.

You can also alter the colour to match your background and add an icon that represents your personality for a fun touch. Then you simply need to “hit customise focus” and your chosen code will appear at the bottom of your screen.

When you activate focus mode on your phone, this handy feature will appear at the bottom of the screen – perfect for when you’re out and about, just in case your phone goes missing.

In the video’s comments section, some users mentioned they put “inspiring s**t on there” to stay motivated during their activities. One user wrote: “If someone finds your phone, they will see who owns it. I think it’s smart.”

Other commenters highlighted that focus mode can “stop your notifications from showing”, but you can tailor which notifications you still wish to receive while in that mode.
