Woman and man wounded in Brooklyn shooting as nearby school put into lockdown

A woman and a man were shot and wounded and a nearby school was put into lockdown after a shooting broke out in Coney Island Thursday, cops said.

Shots were fired at Surfside Gardens, a NYCHA housing complex on W. 31st St. near Mermaid Ave., at about 12:30 p.m.

Bullets struck a 22-year-old woman in the buttocks and a 32-year-old man in the right hand, police said. It was not immediately clear if they were the intended targets.

As cops were called to the scene, a nearby public school was put into temporary lockdown, which was lifted a short time later, police said.

The two wounded people were taken to NYU-Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where they were treated for minor injuries.

No arrests have been made, police said.
