Two men have been charged in a quadruple shooting in New Haven, Conn., that left a 19-year-old in critical condition, police said.
Brian Anderson-Benton, 21, of Hamden, is charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, Christian Bruckhart, a spokesperson for the New Haven Police said Tuesday, according to the New Haven Register.
He’s being held on a $500,000 bond.
A second male suspect, who has yet to be identified, is still being treated at a hospital, local station WFSB reported. He’s facing the same charge, but has not been processed for arrest, authorities said Tuesday afternoon.
The shooting broke out in the early hours of Friday at the intersection of Church and Center streets.
NHPD officers were called to the area for reports of “several gunshots” and a gunshot victim in the 800 block of Chapel St. just after 2 a.m.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they found a second victim, a 19-year-old female who had been shot and was unresponsive. A 21-year-old man who was with the female was also determined to have been shot, police said.
During the incident, two shooters exchanged 30 rounds, New Haven Chief of Police Karl Jacobson told reporters Friday.
All three victims were transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital. A fourth victim, a 19-year-old man, arrived at the hospital later by private vehicle.
The injuries to the three males were determined to be non-life-threatening. The woman remains at the hospital in critical but stable condition, Bruckhart said Tuesday afternoon.
